Spotlight: LAMY
The Paper Mouse carries over a hundred styles of pens by over thirty different brands, but when our shop first opened, we had only a handful of pen lines. Our original collection was highly curated and included some great brands that we still carry today, like Kaweco, Caran d’Ache, and A.G. Spalding & Bros., but the pens were mostly understated designs in muted colors. So when we came across LAMY at the National Stationery Show in 2018, their Safari pens immediately jumped out to us. They were brightly colored, bold, and modern, and we knew we wanted them in our shop.
Over the years, LAMY pens have been among our most popular offerings, and it’s easy to see why: they’re stylish, they’re comfortable, and they’re consistent, with high quality parts that write smoothly and last a lifetime.
LAMY is a German company that’s been around since 1930, when Parker Pens export manager C. Josef Lamy established his own pen manufacturing facility. Originally called ORTHOS and later ARTUS, the brand made a name for itself in 1952 with the LAMY 27, a fountain pen with a newly engineered feed system that ensured a smooth ink flow. The brand’s success and popularity grew over the years as they introduced new pens, partnering with German designers to create the LAMY 2000 and the LAMY Safari, which are still popular today after decades on the market.
Today LAMY produces a wide range of pens, from affordable ballpoints like the Logo and Xevo to luxury fountain pens like their sleek Studio pen, the retractable Dialog CC, and the perennially popular LAMY 2000. Most popular in our shop are the Safari fountain pens and rollerballs, which are affordable, brightly colored, and thoroughly modern in style, with an ergonomic grip that makes them comfortable to hold and smooth action that makes them feel like much more expensive pens. Victor, one of our shop owners, likes to write with the Vista, the clear version of the Safari pen.
